Two of speculative planning applications that have recently been refused by Wiltshire Council are going to Appeal.
This is when the applicant is challenging the decision made, as they believe it goes against the Local Planning Authority's (Wiltshire Council) development plan or planning policy. A decision will be made by the Planning Inspectorate (Government).
This is the application for 300 dwellings at land at Snarlton Farm, with the Appeal hearing in January and the application for 70 dwellings at land at Woodrow Road with the Appeal hearing in early February.
The Snarlton Farm application was refused within 24 hours of the Melksham Neighbourhood Plan 2 being "made" by Wiltshire Council and is expected to be a test case for other potential developments and Neighbourhood Plans.
The Woodrow application was refused at the end of July, the week before the NHP Referendum, but it still had significant weight at that point as had passed through its Examination stage.
Appeal details are on the original planning application.
